We believe you should have the best possible tools to build the best possible products.

Snyder Wilson Consulting can help you improve your designs and reduce costs. Our proprietary optimization process enables companies to create not just a good design but the best possible design. We facilitate optimization work in the following ways:

PREPROCESSING DESIGN INFORMATION

Setting up the optimization process requires four sets of decisions. First, which designs will be reviewed? Second, which components will be reviewed for each design? Thirdly, which components need to be common between different products? Finally, what are the choices for each component under review? Our consultants can help guide you through the process of determining answers to each of these questions.

SOFTWARE UPGRADES

We can evaluate the software you currently use to analyze your product. We can help you upgrade this software so it can evaluate many combinations of components as a batch.

OPTIMIZATION

Our proprietary software can extract the optimal set of designs from the batch of designs produced by your upgraded software. This optimal set, the Pareto Frontier, represent all the available trade-offs between the possible designs. No design which uses the components examined can be better than the designs on the Pareto Frontier.

CHOOSING THE BEST DESIGN

Our consultants will meet with you to present the Pareto Frontier and help you select the best design. We will display the optimal designs using the Frontier graph developed specifically for this purpose. The graph displays all the criteria for all the designs in a single view. This allows for consideration of the available trade-offs between criteria enabling selection of the best possible design.

Our training gives your workers new tools to design.

We offer on-site and web based training on Frontier Optimization. Sessions include either a one hour introductory course or a full day seminar to tailor the training to the needs of your employees. The one hour session introduces the topics of discrete optimization and visualizing Pareto optimal designs. The full day seminar delves more deeply into the different approaches to optimization and includes a lab to show how Pareto optimization can be accomplished in Microsoft Excel using the built-in Visual Basic programming language. Some programming knowledge will be helpful for the lab.
